Nicky and Craig Grading

Sensei Paul Whitehead and Sensei Mark Colizzi (3rd Dan Black Belts) held a Two hour Closed Grading for Students Nicky McBaine (Brown Belt) and Craig Jackson (2nd Brown - Brown & White). They performed Kicking and punching techniques, weapons (knife and sticks), hand to hand and Sparring. Both Students passed the Grading and are back training for the next grading at the end of the 2008 or early 2009.

MP Kickboxing Elite fought in the WUMA National Championships on 23rd September. Fighters from all over the country battled in points fighting and continuous fighting cultimating in the national champion. Kickboxers Curtis Jackson fought in the Men’s 70kg points section finishing second in his bout. Jackson fought well but just missed out on a point decision to come second. Lewis Mancini had his first fight in the 70kg Men’s points but lost to a more experienced fighter from Coventry. Molly Perkins fought hard in the boys and girls section in contiuous fighting ,Molly faced a excellent black belt on the day from the wuma England team and after a tough round molly just missed out on a judges decision to come third in her fight.Mark.Colizzi fought in the Men’s 80kg points section finishing third in the fight out of six fighters on the day.In the continuous fighting section Mens70kg Lewis.Mancini fought very well having knocked down his opponent in the first stages of the fight but his opponent came back stronger to gain advantage in the fight and win in the final 60 secounds.Curtis Jackson and Steve Connolly Men’s 70kg continuous fought hard fighters from London and Manchester winning there bouts to end up paired in the final fight. Both fighters thought a very technical fight showing good skill and pace. C Jackson a more seasoned fighter showed his experience in the fight and the end result the judges handing Jackson with the National Champion title. Instructor Colizzi said he is very proud of what they achieved on the day all the hard training paid of and we look forward to next year when we enter the European Championships.

With a prompt start and an early finish our Spring Cup was a great success. Thank you to all that took part in the events and to the spectators. Also our referees deserve a pat on the back for their good work providing a safe and smooth tournament.

Five Kickboxers from Leamington's MP Kickboxing competed in WUMA's Champion of Champions 7ft Trophies on Sunday 27th November. The Kickboxers have competed in various competitions throughout the year. This Competition was Invitation and 1st placed champions only, from all over Britain to become the British Champion of Champions 2006.

Molly Perkins aged 9, trained hard for this tournament, which showed, she came out guns blazing in the first and second fight, brushing the Welsh champion, Stacey Smith, aged 10, to one side to take the British light continuous under 135cm Championship 2006. Megan Whitworth, aged 15 won the Girls under 16's light continuous Championship, beating Beth Jones from Cardiff in the Final.

Craig Jackson, Curtis Jackson and Ryan Whitworth came 3rd Place in their tough Categories. "All the fighters at MP kickboxing have fought well this year and we've harvested a healthy crop of medals and titles in 2006.

We Travelled down with our Sister Club's Central Elite School of Martial Arts and Shoalin Elite Freestyle Style Kung Fu who also enjoyed a health crop of medals.

The bouts were 1.5 mins of Semi contact, each fighter had to beat two or three opponents to achieve a medal. Awards for the following.

Megan Whitworth again won Gold winning the under 16's Girl Section, Curtis Jackson (light heavyweight), won Silver in the strong Heavyweight mens section.
Molly Perkins won Bronze in the under 11's Girl Section losting out to the Scottish Champion. While Luke Drabble, Thomas Gillott and Christpher Gillot all finished strong runners-up in the Novice Sections.

"We are very proud of the team who have trained and worked hard for this tournament, we are developing some very strong fighters who are flying the Flag for Leamington's Martial Artists." Paul Whitehead.

We won 5 English Titles in the Semi Contact and Continous Fighting,in WUMA's English Cup, Worcester on Sunday 24th September

2nd and 3rd Place trophies went to Craig Jackson, Rich Bartle, Molly Perkins, Mark Colizzi, Ian Davy and Jonathan Huxley.

The Champions also came second in other Catergories.
Megan Whitworth who fought in the13-16 girls Semi Contact section, beat the former Champion to take the English Title. Ryan Whitworth only 16 fought a tough adult category to take the men's Light continous title. Nicholas McBaines and Parmjit Kunner both beat black belts to gain their Semi Contact titles, sparring fighters from all around English and Wales.

Our first InterClub Demo Sparring Display was held on Saturday at the Coventry Sky Dome before the battle of Britain cage warriors. Mr Thompson's Central Elite and MP Kickboxing Demo team entertained the crowd for one and a half hour with 1-1 sparring and 2-1. Special thank you to those who supported. We have been asked to put another demo team together for September, All interested please contact Mr Whitehead.

Our first InterClub Competition was held on Sunday and what a great day it turned out to be for both clubs. With trophy’s being won by each of the clubs through tough and gruelling fights. Well done to all who entered and a special thank you to those who supported.

 

>> Coventry, 3rd December 2005 - Mark and Paul Achieve their 2nd Dan Black belts

After a 5 hour grading in the Central Elite School of Martial Arts Dojo in Coventry. Founder Paul Thompson of Central Elite, held the Black belt grading in which 8 other martial artists took the black belt grading from 1st to 3rd Degree. This consists of self defence, weapons, sparring and breaking.

We were honoured that Tom Hibbett OBE took time out of his busy schedule to spent the morning with MP Kickboxing to watch our students' December 2004 grading. Tom Chairman of AMA and WAKO GB watched a joint grading of over 50 students from MP Kickboxing and Central elite school of martials.
